Services
We strive to provide quality orthodontic care at the appropriate age and in a minimal amount of time.
While some patients will benefit from early orthodontic therapy, the vast majority of our patients achieve quality results in one comprehensive phase of braces started when all - or most of - the permanent teeth have erupted into the mouth.
Although early orthodontic treatment in the mixed dentition is valuable in some cases, most recent research suggests that while it is effective, it is not any more effective than a single comprehensive phase of treatment started later in the permanent definition.
It's important to regularly check your braces for bent or loose wires and brackets.
In the event of a loose/broken wire or bracket, call our office immediately to arrange an appointment for repair.
Right after you get your braces, and sometimes after you have an adjustment appointment, your teeth and mouth will likely feel sore.
To alleviate the pain, you may gargle with lukewarm saltwater, which is a mixture of one teaspoon of salt dissolved in eight ounces of water.
You can also take acetaminophen or other non-aspirin pain relievers.
We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office.
Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options.
This important initial visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs and concerns.
During the initial examination for each patient, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.
We encourage you to ask questions as well.
Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred?.
To keep from getting white spots on your teeth or permanent stains while wearing braces, it is important to brush well multiple times a day.
Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small strip of flouride toothpaste.
When you brush your teeth, move the brush in small, circular motions to reach food particles that may be under your gum line.
Hold the toothbrush at an angle and brush slowly and carefully, getting under the wires and covering all areas between teeth, between braces, and the surface of each tooth.
When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment.
The retention phase lasts from one to two years.
Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far.
Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.
The Essix Retainer is a transparent, removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth.
Essix retainers have no wires.
They are inexpensive and easier to wear.
