Dr. Broess earned his D.D.S. degree at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands before attending Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he completed his orthodontic specialty training and earned his Doctorate in Oral Biology and D.M.D. degrees.
From 1991- 2007 he has served as a Teaching Fellow, Clinical Instructor and Visiting Orthodontic Examiner at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Prior to opening his private practice, Dr Broess worked at the Harvard University faculty practice.
In 1994 Dr. Broess started his private practice in Johnston, Rhode Island.
Orthodontic treatment involves the movement of teeth, changing the growth of the jawbones, and guiding the eruption of teeth.
Orthodontics is the oldest dental specialty.
It takes four years of college, four years of dental school, and 2 to 3 years of attending a full-time accredited specialty program to become an orthodontist.
Only trust a Rhode Island Orthodontic specialist to do the orthodontics for you or your child.
Just like in the medical profession, you do not go for your heart to your regular physician; you see a cardiologist.
By age 7 your child will have enough permanent teeth for an orthodontist to determine if an orthodontic problem exists or is developing.
Waiting for the eruption of all the permanent teeth could not be in the best interest of your child's dental development.
When all permanent teeth have erupted your child is likely close to finishing his or her growth, limiting the option of correction of his or her bite by modifying the growth of the jaws.
By recognizing severe crowding and growth discrepancies early Dr. Broess can develop a treatment for your child that will address these issues while keeping the treatment time as short as possible and avoiding extractions of teeth.
Most adults we see at our office for an orthodontic consultation are unhappy with the esthetics of their smile.
With clear aligners like Invisalign and cheaper generic alternatives, there is no reason not to go ahead with orthodontic treatment and achieve the smile you want.
The average treatment time for adults is 9-14 months with clear aligners.
Often the cost is less than traditional braces.
Sometimes fixed appliances are the only option and the new state of the art 3M ceramic braces are a great alternative to Invisalign when the misalignment is too severe.
Clear braces are a popular option for teenagers and adults looking for a more discrete form of traditional braces.
These braces are not aligner trays like Invisalign, but instead are conventional braces that have clear ceramic brackets that make them harder to spot.
These can be an excellent alternative for patients that are unable to benefit from other clear orthodontic options.
They operate in the same way as conventional braces, but the materials they are built from make them less noticeable.
