All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to become a board certified orthodontist.
The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievement-a significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics.
The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems.

In 2006, my oldest of five kids came for a visit with Dr. Simi and twelve years later, our youngest daughter is approaching her final months of top-notch care from Dr. Donald Simi and his wife, Pam.
Piling in our minivan to make the half-hour trek from Franklin has been more than worth it; not only has Simi Orthodontics provided the best possible orthodontic care, but we could not be more grateful for the strong relationships that all five of our kids have built with the Simi family over the years.

The most visible benefit of undergoing orthodontic treatment is the improved appearance and self-esteem that comes from a straight, beautiful smile!
It has been shown that a better appearance can help a person's academic, professional and personal success, and that one of the most significant factors of appearance is a wide, bright smile.
Having a beautiful smile can help a patient look and feel better about themselves, which can have a significant impact on every aspect of their life.
Certain appliances, used in conjunction with braces, can modify the facial bone structure of a growing patient and improve the growth pattern of the jaws.

Orthodontic problems can affect anyone - in fact, our teeth are almost never naturally perfect.
Malocclusion, or a "bad bite", can cause problems with chewing, oral hygiene, speaking and aesthetics.
A bad bite can be genetic, or can be caused by thumb sucking, dental disease, poor dental hygiene, accidents, birth defects or other medical conditions.
Being educated about the orthodontic problem you or your child may have is the first step to correcting it.
Orthodontic treatment performed by Dr. Simi can improve both the functionality of your bite and the appearance of your smile.
