Ohlenforst Carney Orthodontics
What sets us apart: Ohlenforst Carney Orthodontics is one of the few female owned sole practitioner orthodontic offices in Dallas, TX. Dr. Carney is a residency-trained, Board Certified orthodontist and sees every patient and is at her office in North Dallas every day. Dr. Carney also has years of experience working with special needs patients. She worked at a pediatric dental office in Dallas during her college summers, has picked up a thing or two from her child psychologist sister, and is still gleaning as much orthodontic insight from orthodontist father’s 40+ years of experience. At Ohlenforst Carney Orthodontics in Dallas, we truly aim to treat our patients as we would treat our family members while also providing the specialized care you’d expect from a residency-trained, board certified orthodontist. Dr. Carney also knows your time is valuable and does not like to run late.

Dr. Carney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, the Dallas County Dental Society, and Irving Dental Study Club.
Dr. Carney has also been nominated for several awards/listings including D Magazine Best orthodontists for 6 years running, DFW Child Mom-Approved Choice, Super Dentists, and had her award winning research published in the American Journal of Orthodontics.

Dr. Ohlenforst has practiced in Irving since 1976.
He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Ohlenforst received his Master's degree from and completed his residency in orthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Dr. Ohlenforst and his wife, Cindy, have three beautiful daughters (all three are Notre Dame graduates!).
He volunteers with many organizations, and enjoys spending quality time at the beach and with his family.
Thank you for taking an interest in coming to see us! On your first visit, you will get to meet Dr. Carney and discuss your concerns.
She will perform an initial exam and take a look in you or your child's mouth, look at any available x-rays, and maybe take a quick panoramic x-ray if needed.
We will provide you with a recommendation for treatment if it is indicated and will also provide you with an estimate of the treatment fee.
A more accurate treatment fee and treatment time can be provided after we have taken records on you or your child.
Brushing with braces is different than regular brushing.
It's important to pay careful attention and spend extra time to make sure you don't miss any spots.
When you get your braces on, we'll spend time explaining the best ways to keep your pearly whites pearly white.
It's important to keep seeing your dentist on a regular basis.
Orthodontic appointments are no replacement for your regularly scheduled dental cleanings.
General Dentists and Pediatric Dentists have hygienists on staff who are specifically trained to clean teeth.
Orthodontic Treatment for children is often called Early Treatment.
We, along with the American Association of Orthodontists, recommend that a child receive their first orthodontic screening by the age of 7.
This enables us to identify potential problems early and correct them before they become more serious.
This can not only save you and your child time, but also money.
Early treatment often lessens the time a patient will need to be in braces later when all of the permanent teeth have erupted.
Adolescent orthodontic treatment is often called Phase II treatment.
The most common time for treatment is between the ages of 11 and 15, and for good reasons.
By age 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites can easily be identified.
These problems will hardly ever correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment for their children.
This is also a good time for orthodontic treatment because many of the negative associations with braces are not yet present.

Dr. Carney is an exceptional orthodontist. Our first child didn't have the greatest experience with her orthodontist, Dr. Genecov. We switch to Dr. Carney for our next two children, and if I could go back I would have her do braces for my first child as well. She and her staff have been nothing short of amazing, always friendly and gregarious, our children love going to her. Highly recommend her.

We LOVE Dr. Carney!! She was our ortho doctor when we went to the Baylor Dental College for care. Dr. Carney was assigned to our daughter when our daughter was 9 years old. Once Dr. Carney graduated from Baylor, we stayed in touch with her and now my 14 yr. old son and my 13 yr. old have braces by Dr. Carney. We travel from the Lewisville area to North Dallas just to keep using her services!!!
