Duplessis Orthodontics
At DuPlessis Orthodontics (DO), we DO things differently. We specialize in creating beautiful smiles while building genuine, lifelong friendships with our patients in the community we live and love. The #DupTroop happily serves Hardin, Grayson, Meade, Breckinridge, and Larue counties. Every member of our team is highly trained with more than a hundred years of combined experience.

At DO, we use state-of-the-art treatments that are approved by the American Board of Orthodontics and offer treatment plans specific to each patient's smile goals. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of 7; however, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens, with about one in every five orthodontic patients being over the age of 21.

The amount of time spent in braces or clear aligners will vary depending on the individual patient because every smile is unique. Treatment times can take anywhere between 6 and 30 months, but most standard treatments take about 24 months.

Whether traditional metal braces, self-ligating braces or clear braces, all involve the use of brackets and wires to transform your smile.
An alternative to traditional braces are clear aligners.
Clear aligners allow you to transform your smile with more flexibility, and responsibility, since you can remove them at will - although it's only recommended to remove them while eating, drinking anything besides water, and brushing your teeth!
Foods that can't be cleaned off of braces may lead to discoloration and decay of your teeth.
Even though your braces and wires are metal, they are fragile and usually damaged by eating the wrong foods, thus resulting in more appointments and longer treatment time.
Here are some Dos and Dont's for foods to eat and avoid during your treatment.
No Hard Foods: Apples or Carrots (unless cooked or cut into small pieces), Nuts, Popcorn, Hard Candy, Corn on the Cob, Bagels, Pizza Crusts, Jerky, Hard Pretzels, Ice, Doritos.
