Services
Akridge Orthodontics was founded in Louisville, KY in 1971 by Dr. Alan Akridge.
Since our inception, we have grown from the original location on the Outerloop to adding offices in Middletown and Campbellsville as well.
Over the past few years, all three locations have been reconfigured with brand new, state-of-the-art technologies.
From cozy waiting rooms to the latest in digital X-ray imaging, our facilities have been updated with a "Patient First" mentality.
In 2009, Dr. Alan's son Matt joined the growing practice after completing his orthodontic residency program in Jacksonville, Florida.

With the application of new braces come a lot of questions! We've filtered out some of the most common questions we receive from patients and added them below.
We'll be happy to help!
After a few days, you will be able to resume eating more normally.
However, there are certain foods you will need to avoid the whole time you are wearing braces.
Stay away from extremely chewy foods (like taffy or licorice), hard foods (like nuts), foods you bite into (like apples or corn on the cob), and crunchy foods (like ice or popcorn).

Metal braces have been the standard for years.
Even today, they are the type of braces most commonly used, but many advancements have made them more comfortable than ever.
Metal braces also offer the fun option of adding colored elastics to create your own unique look.
Ceramic braces are most often chosen by adults and older teens, because they are less visible than traditional braces.
The clear materials they are constructed from offer cosmetic appeal, but they do require more care.
Oral hygiene is extremely important to protect these more brittle braces.
