Patritto Orthodontics
When you or your child need braces, where will you go? You may have noticed that many dentists are providing orthodontic treatments. Dentists are educated in treating oral health, including your teeth and gums. Orthodontists are specialists with additional years of training beyond dental school. They focus on moving teeth and aligning jaws. For the best results, choose an orthodontist who has specialized training in orthodontic care.

Permanent teeth come in about age 7 and this is the recommended age to see an orthodontist. Healthy, straight teeth are important for many reasons. If your child's bite isn't aligned properly, tooth decay, gum disease, earaches and headaches, biting, chewing, and speaking issues can occur. In addition, crooked or crowded teeth can affect self-esteem, making them feel uncomfortable around their peers.

Rather than putting your kids in uncomfortable situations and at risk for oral health issues, bring them to Patritto Orthodontics in either our Ottumwa or Oskaloosa, IA location.
Services
Dr. Dwayne Patritto graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1987 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree followed by a Master of Science degree and a specialty certificate in Orthodontics in 1990.
He then joined Dr. Delbert Donovan, who had practiced in Ottumwa since 1959.
Dr. Patritto is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Iowa Society of Orthodontists, and the Iowa Dental Society.
He currently offers orthodontic services in both Ottumwa and Oskaloosa, IA.
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, a child's first orthodontic visit should be no later than age 7. The visit may indicate that your child's bite has no problems, or needs monitoring for later treatment, but in some cases, Dr. Patritto may suggest early treatment.
Children at this age are more comfortable with braces because their friends are wearing them.
You're never too old to straighten your teeth or want a beautiful smile.
About 25% of orthodontic patients are adults!
Traditional metal braces, clear ceramic, or Invisalign are all options you can discuss with Dr. Patritto.
Because some dentists provide braces or aligners, you may wonder if it's necessary to go to an orthodontist.
What you may not know is that orthodontists have completed dental school and more.
They have chosen to take on another two to three years of post-graduate education and residency to become orthodontists, experts at diagnosing and treating misaligned teeth, irregular bite, and other problems related to abnormal tooth placement.
To illustrate this point, consider this example.
You have an irregular heartbeat.
Whether you choose metal, ceramic, or Invisalign, Patritto Orthodontics is ready to help you improve your smile!
Thank you for choosing to be seen in our Ottumwa or Oskaloosa, IA location.
Prior to treatment, we need to review your medical history and collect your insurance information.

With the growing popularity of mail-in orthodontic companies, many patients are left wondering if they still need to visit an orthodontist.
Here at Patritto Orthodontics, we are here to answer your questions and help you achieve a brighter, straighter smile.
Mail-in orthodontic companies are popular due to two main factors: cost and convenience.
