Choosing the right orthodontist for your family is an important decision. At Scenic City Orthodontics, we want you to feel confident that your smile is in the very best of hands. Dr. Tyler Prentice graduated at the top of his dental school class at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed his three years of additional training at UAB to become an orthodontist.

Dr. Prentice is a board-certified orthodontist, a designation that only 30% of orthodontists carry, and he is a Platinum Provider for Invisalign. These accreditations signify Dr. Prentice's commitment to continuing his education to stay at the forefront of this ever-evolving industry. Dr. Prentice grew up in Canada, just outside of Toronto, Ontario.

He and his wife, Stacey, have three children, Ben, Katie Beth and Will, and one dog, Holly Peanut Butter. In his off time, Dr. Prentice can be found cheering on his kids' sports fields, on the trails training for a triathlon or surfing and fishing at the lake. Five stars does not do justice I would give them a million stars thank you so much for helping my son today!

I am so fortunate to be an orthodontist.
It really is the best job in the world.
I get to work with a great team and everyday we create beautiful smiles for the nicest people-our patients.
The process that we go through together, and the results we achieve, makes it difficult to say goodbye when treatment is complete.
It is truly a joy to provide beautiful smiles and see my patients grow and succeed in so many ways.
I am originally from Canada, born and raised just outside Toronto, Ontario.
At 17, I moved down to the Chattanooga area to attend college.
So it's finally happening.
You've had your consultation, taken X-rays, picked out the tshirt and enjoyed your last apple/gum/popcorn chewing for a while.
You're getting braces!
You're feeling good, maybe a little sore, but mostly excited to get this beautiful-smile journey started!
While having braces won't change any of your day-to-day activities, there might be some adjustments you make along the way!
You might experience some soreness after certain visits.
Your teeth could be sore for up to a few days.
If you have achieved your dream smile, Dr. Prentice and the SCO team wants to make sure it stays that way.
It's as simple as four words: Retention.
Is.
For.
Life.
Your teeth are constantly on the move, so without your retainer, they will easily shift back to their original position.
Therefore, you must wear your retainer every night for as long as you would like to retain your results.
Only remove your retainer if you are eating, brushing, playing a contact sport or swimming.
Gently clean your retainer with a toothbrush and toothpaste in lukewarm (never hot) water.
