Services
Comprehensive Exams are provided 2x a year.
During this exam, we will evaluate your periodontal health, conduct an Oral Cancer Screening and determine if there is any decay or problems with your teeth.
With these exams, we also take necessary x-rays and take intraoral cameras.
X-rays are needed for us to be able to see between the teeth and under the gums.
We evaluate bone depth and any issues below the gum line.
The AGD strongly recommends that a dentist or hygienist perform a dental cleaning every six months.
Gum (periodontal) disease is a disease under the gums.
It can spread from the gums to the bone that supports the teeth, and may even cause tooth loss in the most severe cases.
There are very effective therapies to combat this, ranging from scalings (deep cleanings) that remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from beneath the gum line, to surgical repair of lost gum and bone tissue.
Most of the population suffer from Periodontal disease but it is important to treat it like any other disease.
If your gums bleed while brushing or flossing, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Koo.
Composite (Tooth-colored) fillings are designed to match the color of your teeth.
Tooth Fillings are needed when a tooth either has decay or has been fractured.
Tooth-colored fillings are also used for cosmetic improvements that are used to change the color, or shape of the tooth.
A crown is a "cap" that is tooth shaped to be placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size or color.
Dental Crowns are usually needed when a tooth is badly decayed.
Crowns are also used for cosmetic purposes.
Crowns can enhance the appearance, and strength of a natural tooth.
Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection.
In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.
Some patients may want to extract the tooth rather than saving it, but in most cases, it's better to save your tooth.
Extracting your tooth may cause more issues down the road and end up becoming more costly.
A Dental Implant is an artificial tooth root (metal posts) that is placed in the jaw to support a replacement tooth or appliance.
The implant is placed in the jawbone beneath the gums.
Dental Implants are used for any patients that may have lost a tooth due to injury or in other cases periodontal disease.
Dental implants are designed to look, feel and function like a natural tooth.
Veneers are a less intrusive option than crowns or braces.
A veneer is a "thin piece of porcelain used to re-create the natural look of the tooth" according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
