Having a fear of the dentist isn’t an uncommon thing, and we here at the dental office of Kenneth R. Russell DDS are working to change that fear and anxiety one patient at a time! With a different approach to dentistry using modern technology combined with years of experience, many of our patients are able to walk away with a shorter appointment and a more enjoyable dental experience.

Russell DDS. We accept most insurances and have variable hours to meet just about anyone’s scheduling needs, even on Saturdays! 
By keeping up with regular dental checkups, you can reduce the risk of experiencing major oral health problems. During a dental checkup, a dentist will examine your teeth for signs of decay or other issues, as well as review your x-rays to see what is going on beneath the surface. You will also have a cleaning performed by a skilled dental hygienist who can remove the buildup of plaque that occurs over time. 
The canal surrounding the root of your tooth can become infected. If this happens, removing the infection is crucial in saving the tooth and avoiding the spread of infection to other areas of the mouth or even to other organs in your body. This procedure is called a root canal and involves removing the pulp surrounding the tooth that has become infected.

Kenneth R. Russell Dds
Kenneth R. Russell, D.D.S. – Dr. Russelll graduated from East Carolina University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In addition, he minored in Psychology. His post graduate work was completed in 1989 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He and his wife, Vicky are members of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and have three children. Dr. Russell is also a member of American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and Academy of Laser Dentistry
Dr. Russell has been in private practice since 1989. Upon graduation, he began practicing in Burlington, NC and then he came back home to Winston-Salem in 1994. He taught at Alamance Community College in Dental Assisting from 1990-92. My dental hygienist, Virginia, is very thorough and personable and gives helpful suggestions for home care. Dr. Russell gives honest advice and doesn't try to talk you into any thing that you don't need. The office staff are always willing to get you the documents you request. An excellent all around experience.

I have AWFUL dental anxiety and from walking in with an emergency (had an appointment) to the referral I felt at ease. Dr. Reynolds, the hygienist and the desk administrator are all amazing. Will this be the office that I stick with to actually get my work done and not have a sobbing panic attack? BEST CHANCES YET!

My first visit - everyone was pleasant, informative and professional. The facility was beautiful and clean. It was just for x-rays and assessment. My second visit - I walked in apprehensive and a bit fearful. and walked out restored to the "old me" previous a very bad dental experience by a different local dentist. No dentist should ever hurt you. I would refer anyone to Dr. Reynolds. He's attentive, takes the time to talk to you, and explains what he's doing.

After a particularly hard tooth extraction about two years ago, it took a lot for me to go back to a dentist even though I absolutely love going prior for cleanings. Reynolds and his staff made me feel like I was at dinner with friends. He had, quite honestly, the best "bedside" manners and took my anxiety and fears seriously, while also making me laugh and playing my favorite band to help with my procedure.
I will walk away from a provider without thinking twice and for me to say I'll follow him anywhere, that says a lot. While he may not be the main dentist there, I'm extremely grateful I ended up in his care along with his nurse and dental hygienist, who also deserve a tremendous amount of praise. While I was still extremely scared, little things done helped distract me and get the work done that I needed, like flapping my cheek while numbing me. Sounds stupid but surprisingly effective. Overall, I will say this is the best dental experience I've ever had in my 34 years.

I was not satisfied with my two other dentists so I decided to come to Dr Russell. The staff has been very friendly helpful and above all competent in dealing with dental needs. Every time I went to my other dentist there was always something that had to be done to my teeth, cavity or working on alignment because of bite. It became a very expensive experience.
I felt very uncomfortable with their work and after a while I started to distrust their recommendations. I had never had dental issues like these before. Dr Russell shows me exactly what's going, and what to watch for with my teeth. I rarely have problems even though I'm older now and my teeth should be more challenging. It is nice and comforting to go to a dentist that I trust.

I visited Dr. Russell because my primary dentist was booked over 6 months into the future. He's my primary now. Dr. Russell perfectly blends science with art to provide a stellar experience. Dr. Kenneth is amazing. He is both my daughter and my dentist. All the staff are very friendly and kind. This makes a great deal of a difference for me. I am terrified of the dentist, and don't like to go. I feel more at ease and they help calm me down before procedures. I switched from my other dentist and will be using Dr. Kenneth from now on!
