Orthodontic treatment can have a profound effect on your dental health, appearance and self-esteem, so it's worth your while to find a reputable and experienced orthodontist that can meet your needs and give you the treatment you deserve.
There are many different reasons for seeking orthodontic treatment.
If you have an overbite or underbite, there are gaps between your teeth or you have noticed movement in your teeth over the past few years, then it's in your best interest to consult an orthodontist.
If you are looking for any type of orthodontic treatment, then it's important to seek out an experienced professional.
Many times, a dentist or pediatric dentist will advise you that you or your child may need braces, Invisalign, or jaw surgery in the future.
In this case, your first step in the right direction is to find a reputable orthodontist in your area.
Some patients ask what the difference is between a dentist and an orthodontist.
An orthodontist first completes the same training and education as a dentist, but then continues with post-doctoral education in the specialized field of orthodontic treatment.
Whether you have an overbite, an underbite, gaps between your teeth or crooked teeth, an orthodontist might prescribe braces as the solution.
For many decades, braces have been the treatment of choice to correct misalignment due to the fact that this orthodontic treatment is one of the most effective ways to move teeth.
The options regarding braces have advanced significantly over the years.
Thanks to smaller metal brackets and more esthetic options like clear braces and Invisalign, more and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment.
