Did you know that ALL Orthodontists are General Dentists, but NOT all General Dentists are Orthodontists? An Orthodontist is a general dentist who continues his or her full-time education to receive comprehensive training specifically aimed at correction of misaligned teeth and improper jaw function. By limiting our focus to orthodontics alone, orthodontic specialists are able to provide the best possible care for patients seeking to improve their smile.

Leading edge orthodontic care with traditional braces, clear ceramic braces, and Invisalign. Dr. Lisa Mangiarelli works closely with your general dentist and encourages routine dental care as well as good oral hygiene at home.

We get this question a lot.
As a rule of thumb, we like to evaluate young patients after the 6-year molars erupt and the front permanent teeth just start to appear.
This is usually between the ages of 6 and 8.
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children be seen for the first time by age 7.
This does not mean that every patient begins treatment at this age.
Actually, fewer than 20% of these patients really need our help (and it could be something simple like a space maintainer).

It's more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment.
Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning.
Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment.
Watch the two videos below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
This is typically the first question patients ask us.
