Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities.
An orthodontist is a specialist who has completed 4 years of dental school and has elected to specialize by completing an additional 2 to 3 years of advanced orthodontic training with an accredited educational program.
This additional training allows him/her to learn the special skills required to manage tooth movement and guide facial growth and development.

Dr. Cruz is a native San Diegan, born and raised in Pacific Beach and a graduate from Mission Bay High School.
He attended UCSD where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and met his future wife, Keri.
They currently have two children, Caylie age 11 and Carly age 6.
Dr. Cruz earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2003 graduating Cum Laude from UCLA.
He went on to complete an additional 2 years postgraduate residency at UCLA specializing solely in orthodontics.
As a father and husband, Dr. Cruz is a firm believer in strong family values and carries this philosophy into his practice, giving his patients the care and attention they deserve.

Children are asked to read every night for 30 minutes.
If the students reach their reading goals every week, they become eligible to win a prize.

The appointment for placement of your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes approximately one to two hours.
You'll then see us at regular intervals six to eight weeks apart for your adjustment, which takes fifteen to thirty minutes.
Dr. Cruz does not want finances to stand in the way of you pursuing a beautiful smile.
