Dr. Keith (as his patients know him) loves working with kids.
He was born in California and grew up in some small towns in Utah and Idaho.
He graduated from Weber State University in 2000 and entered dental school that same year at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Keith graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004 and was elected into the OKU dental honor society which is reserved for the top 10% of graduating dentists in the nation.
He was also awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate of Merit for outstanding academic achievements.
Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age.
Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems.
The American Association for Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of 7. Early detection and treatment gives your child a much better chance for natural and normal smile development.
By working with natural growth instead of against it, you can prevent problems from becoming worse, and give your child a healthy smile that lasts a lifetime!
In the first phase, the orthodontist is interested in the position and symmetry of the jaws, future growth, spacing of the teeth, breathing and other oral habits which may result in abnormal dentofacial development if left untreated.
Wearing elastics (or rubber bands) improves the fit of your upper and lower teeth.
It is important that you or your child wears the rubber bands as recommended by the Greeley Kids Orthodontic team because they work far more efficiently if they're worn as prescribed.
The Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device is an alternative to headgear which promotes growth in adolescents, helping to eliminate excessive overbites, improve the fit of teeth, and possibly prevent the need for jaw surgery.
The palatal expander "expands" (or widens) your upper jaw by putting gentle pressure on your upper molars each time an adjustment is made.
