All orthodontists must be licensed to specialize in orthodontics, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete certification to become a Board Certified Orthodontist.
The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievement-a significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics.
The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems.
Our goal at Optimal Orthodontics of Humble is to make orthodontic treatment affordable for everyone with easy financing options.
As a matter of convenience to patients, your orthodontist also offers an automatic draft from checking accounts or credit cards.
We will review all the fees associated with treatment and the financial options available during your complimentary orthodontic consultation.
It is our goal to provide the highest quality of orthodontic treatment that is affordable to you and your family!
As a courtesy to you and your family dentist, we will always discuss the feasibility of braces or tooth straightening without charging a fee.
There may be a co-payment for X-rays and other diagnostic procedures.
As a rule of thumb, we like to evaluate young patients after the 6-year molars erupt and the front permanent teeth just start to appear.
This is usually between the ages of 6 and 8.
The purpose of an early evaluation is to inform and observe, more than to start treatment.
At this early age, the eventual needs may be identified and discussed.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that most children should have an orthodontic screening by age 7 to decide if they are candidates for early orthodontics.
This allows the orthodontist to determine the best time for the patient to be treated.
Many of the dentists in our community have been trained to identify orthodontic problems early, and may refer you to our office earlier than age 7.
Early diagnosis and treatment can guide erupting teeth into a more favorable position, preserve space for permanent teeth, and reduce the likelihood of fracturing protruded front teeth.
Adults seek orthodontic treatment for many of the same reasons as children.
Some adults had orthodontic problems as children but were unable to correct them until now.
Others, who had treatment as children, may need further treatment as adults due to relapse or limitations in initial treatment.
Correct relapse after previous orthodontic treatment due to lack of long-term retainer wear.
Improve the ability to brush and floss, especially for crowded or overlapping lower front teeth.
Many adults are concerned with the appearance of braces.
