Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic.
They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth.
By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position.
This is a great time to wear braces!
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth.
You can choose brackets that are clear or metallic color.
You can choose the color of the ties that hold the wire in brackets.
Also, please avoid chewing on hard things such as pens, pencils or fingernails, as these can damage braces, and damaged braces will potentially prolong treatment.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in you mouth, and your teeth may be tender to biting pressures for three to five days.
This can be relieved by rinsing your mouth with a warm salt water mouthwash.
Dissolve one teaspoonful of salt in 8 ounces of warm water and rinse your mouth vigorously.
If the tenderness is severe, take advil or tylenol as you would for headache or similar pain.
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities.
Braces, Aligners and other appliances/devices are used to make these corrections by moving teeth and bones.
Just as there are specialists in medicine (such as cardiologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, etc.), there are specialists in dentistry.
Orthodontists are dental specialists who dedicate their lives to correcting misaligned teeth and jaws.
Teeth and sometimes faces are permanently changed by orthodontic treatment; therefore, it is very important that the treatment be done properly.
We pride ourselves in making Orthodontic treatment affordable and as budget friendly as possible.
We accept most insurance benefits and gladly file insurance claims on your behalf.
Typically, dental insurance will cover a portion of the treatment cost, but not the entire amount.
It's important to know that insurance is not required for treatment and many of our patients are entirely self pay.
We've designed several different payment plan options that allow you to pay monthly over the course of treatment (usually around 24 months).
